Baked Apple and Cottage Cheese Pie

Description :

One of my favourite desserts which tastes delicious when it is served warm. Made just with low fat paneer and fruits, you can occasionally enjoy a serving of this dessert after your meal. However, do remember to include these calories as part of your diet.

Ingredients :

For The Cottage Cheese Mixture

-1 cup low fat paneer (cottage cheese)
-4 tsp sugar
-4 tbsp low fat milk (99.7% fat free)
-1 tsp cornflour
-a few strands of saffron (kesar) strands

For The Fruit Filling

-1 cup apples , sliced
-4 tsp brown sugar
-1/4 tsp nutmeg (jaiphal) powder
-a few drops lemon juice

Method :

For the cottage cheese mixture

-Dissolve the saffron in the milk and keep aside
-Blend together all the ingredients in a blender to a smooth paste. Keep aside.


For the fruit filling

-Mix together all the ingredients and keep aside for 15 to 20 minutes.
-Arrange the fruit in a greased 150 mm. (6") diameter pie dish.


How to proceed :

-Spread the cottage cheese mixture over the fruit and bake in a pre-heated oven at 220°c (440°f) for 15 minutes.
-Serve warm.
